JOB DESCRIPTIONS VICE CHAIR (DIRECTOR) Responsible for the production aspect of the facade. Supervises the production committee members, cast, and chorus. Works closely with the chair in coordinating script selection, try outs, rehearsals, and committee meetings. Experience as a director, assistant director, stage manager, or cast member helpful. Musical knowledge desirable. Must be able to block a 20 minute show. Responsible for giving choreographer, costumer, chorus director, and construction personnel complete instructions. VICE CHAIR (CONSTRUCTION) Responsible for the construction aspect of the facade. Supervise the construction committee members including light and sound. Works closely with the chair in coordinating the design, painting, and the internal and external structure construction plans and schedules. Experience in carpentry, architecture, leadership, and other technical aspects of production helpful. TREASURER Responsible for maintaining the overall budget. Must be able to work with the chair and vice chairs to allocate the funds effectively. Must be able keep up-to-date records. Experience in campus bookkeeping helpful, but not essential. SECRETARY Responsible for taking notes at meetings, typing the minutes, keeping attendance records, maintaining a facade schedule of events, generally keeping track the committee's activities and papers, and submitting appropriate papers to Congress and University archives. LIGHT & SOUND (1-3 positions) Responsible for designing and setting up the light and sound system in the facade with limited funds. (Creativity helps.) Previous experience preferred. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Responsible for supporting director in all of his/her duties. Takes director's place in emergencies. Particularly responsible for creating cast unity. STAGE MANAGER Responsible for recruitment and supervision of props, make up, choral, and costuming staff. Work with assistant director and director. May be given seemingly impossible tasks. PUBLICITY (1-2 positions) Responsible for publicity campaigns for try outs and construction parties. Talent in art helpful, but not essential. Responsible for layout and printing of facade tickets and programs. CONSTRUCTION (4-6 positions) Responsible for designing and constructing the building. Work closely the Vice Chair in charge of construction. Duties include moving facade from Tyson to Graham to the lot and back to Tyson. Construction design begins in October, light building until February when facade is brought over from Tyson. Primary time commitment will come during carnival week. Must be able to supervise inexperienced sub committee members in the fundamentals of building and/or painting. PAINT/DESIGN SPECIALIST Responsible for supervising the painting of the facade structure prior to arrival on the lot. Duties include shopping for supplies and designing a feasible paint design. Work closely with other construction committee members. INTERIOR CONSTRUCTION Primary person responsible for the design and construction of the interior stage and set(s). Must be able to supervise inexperienced workers during lot week. SUB COMMITTEE POSITIONS PROPS PERSONNEL--Creativity helpful COSTUMING--Sewing experience desireable MAKE UP--prior experience nice, but not necessary CAST--no experience necessary. Try outs are in November. Rehearsals begin in January. Singing ability desireable. Must be willing to work and play hard. CHORUS--singing ability nice, but not necessary. Sing back up for the cast, possible publicity duties during the carnival. Choral director selected amongst selves. ARTWORK--various jobs throughout year...publicity, t-shirt, stage, program, and ticket designs. CONSTRUCTION--help construct and paint the facade beginning in February. MUSICIANS--especially a keyboard, but other instruments could be used. Desireable if you own your own keyboard.
